The African Wild Dog resembles a variety of different species of domestic canines. This specific canine measures about 2.5 feet, both males and females can weigh from 39.6 lbs-79.2 lbs. They have long legs, powerful jaws, and have a bad reputation as being aggressive. But they are just doing what is instinctive for them to survive in their habitat. These canines have four toes instead of five and their fur can be brown, black, or yellowish. It's fur gets thicker in the winter and in the summer they shed to be cooler. They can be found in various locations around Africa, they live in a very diverse area or they are often found along the plains but they also live in the dense forest regions just like the Savanna and the arid zones. They are very social, they may live in alone or in a small pack, there might be from 7-15 wild dogs per pack. These animals would look for food and consume remains or they will prey of weak animals, they are very wise, they will surround their prey. In the pack only the alpha gets to mate, and when the female has her pups the other wild dogs take care of them.
The zebra is an interesting animal. Zebra's can have black and white or white and black stripes but it doesn't matter. Zebra's are from the horse family. You can identify one of them by the pattern of their stripes, their stripes are unique and did you know that there are three different types of zebras. Zebras can also see in color, they have eyes on the sides of their head to have good view of the field like in grasslands, the plains, and Savanna. They live in very hot and dry places, but also live where it rains a little bit. Zebras live in small herds, usually 1 male and 6 females in a herd. They usually looking for food like shrubs, leaves, twigs, and plants. At the end of the raining season is when they mate. The males will only mate with mature females. When the young zebras are born the whole herd takes care of them.
Many animals live in the Savanna. Such as the largest lizard out of 5,600 species ''The Komodo Dragon.'' This lizard is grayish or light tan, they evolve from the Varanus genus, that is where they got their 60 sharp teeth. These lizards were alive when the dinosaurs were alive. They also live near water, up to 40 degrees. One of the special abilities is to excrete salt from their bodies instead of water, they also have a good sense of smell, these are special lizards by having all these abilities. The Komodo Dragon eats birds, eggs, and sometimes other lizards, these lizards can reach very high or very low with their super flexible neck. Even though this lizard is already deemed as being aggressive, but they also have a nice side. These lizards have a mating season, males will fight for hours to mate with a female, when they think they are right for each other the male sticks out his long tongue into her mouth. This will let the female decide whether she wants to be with him or not. After they mate the male leaves to look for someone else meanwhile the female leaves and the babies take care of themselves.
Some people might mistaken the Golden Jackal with a wolf, but the Jackal measures put to 3-4 ft. tall. This jackal is an omnivore, they eat plants and other animals such as rabbits, rodents, insects, and reptiles. They also have a long tail. Warthogs live in many places like in the Savanna, woodlands, and grasslands. These types of animals are adapted to be able to survive by grazing along the areas of the Savanna. They tend to take over other animal's burrow to be protected of the heat. They would roll on the mud to cool down in the heat and when it is cold they just cuddle and get warm. These hogs find their food with their snout, they take every chance they get to forage for food, they eat roots, berries, eggs, fungus, and bark from trees. Females live in a group meanwhile the males live alone until mating season, the females will release a special scent. After mating the female will have from 2-7 piglets in one litter. Many people think Warthogs will be extinct soon but, no one knows.
